Hip-hop trio, StooShe, were formed in London in January 2011 by music executive, Jo Perry, who spent months auditioning singers and scouring stores like Top Shop, in search of a fresh, young urban sound of the street. Alexandra Buggs, Karis Anderson and Courtney Rumbold were the lucky three who fitted Perry's mould, and in March, they released their first single, “F**k Me”, which featured rapper, Suave Debonair, in the video. Later that summer, they appeared at the Wireless Festival in Hyde Park, where they made a video for “Hot Stepper”, a semi-cover of Ini Kamoze's 1994 hit. Their second single, “Betty Woz Gone”, was released in October 2011, and was accompanied by a video depicting the girls as cartoon characters. A mixtape, The Stoosh Tape, was also released that month.
The girls write their own material, unusual for a manufactured band, and they're fast gaining a reputation for their uncompromising, street-level lyrics, which often contain obscenities and profanity. After being shortlisted for the BBC's Sound of 2012 Poll, StooShe announced they would re-release “F**k Me” in March 2012, featuring American rapper, Travie McCoy, as guest artist, prior to launching their debut album.
