Named after a members club in Havana in the 1940s, the Buenta Vista Social Club inspired a recording by guitarist Ry Cooder with traditional Cuban musicians, using some of the veteran performers from the club nearly forty years earlier. The lineup became an international success, and even became the subject of an award-winning documentary.
