Big Time Rush

Often abbreviated to B.T.R., for those in the know, Big Time Rush exploded onto the US music scene in 2009 thanks to their self-titled hit show on the Nickelodeon channel. A bit like the 60s TV series, The Monkees, each episode of Big Time Rush follows four hockey players-cum-pop stars, Kendall, James, Carlos and Logan, as they deal with the daily problems that stand in the way of their becoming famous, usually accompanied by a cheery song or three. Often compared to Glee, the huge popularity of the show soon saw B.T.R. release their eponymous debut single in November 2009, which also served as the show's theme. A cover of the Play song, “Famous”, was released in June 2010, which made the Billboard Hot 100, thanks to download sales alone. “Til I Forget About You” was the band's first promotional single, released in advance of their debut album, B.T.R., which shot to No.3 on the Billboard 200 and has sold over 1 million copies. A 2010 Christmas EP, Holiday Bundle, included a cover of Mariah Carey's classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, which paved the way for the boys' first radio-friendly mainstream single, “Boyfriend”, in February 2011.

Big Time Rush were nominated for an MTV Europe Music Award in 2011 in the “Best Push” category and, in July of the same year, they collaborated with Iyaz on the single “If I Ruled The World”, from their second studio album, Elevate, released in November 2011. An American tour was announced for February 2012, with support from British band, former X Factor finalists, One Direction.
